Vernie Staples Payne

A graveside service for Vernie Staples Payne, 77, of Decatur was Monday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Rich Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Payne died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at her residence. She was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Morgan County to Joshua Dan Staples and Laddie Dutton Staples.
She is survived by her husband, John H. Payne of Decatur; two sons, John H. Payne Jr. of Decatur and Larry D. Payne of Arizona; a daughter, Betty Payne Jones of Decatur; a sister, Eva Lee Minor of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
