Funeral for James O. Sims, 81, of Decatur was Sunday, Aug. 27, at 3:30 p. m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sandra Locke Godbey officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Sims died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Lawrence County to James E. and Corjelia Price Sims. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Melonae W. Sims, a son, Brent Sims, and a brother and sister.
Mr. Sims was founder and owner of Defco, Inc. He served with the 1897th Engineering Aviation Battalion in World War II and was severely wounded while serving in New Guinea. He held numerous patents on different types of pumps and agricultural machines.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Sims of Decatur and Barri Edmondson of Hartselle; a brother, Rev. Alden Sims of Trinity; a sister, Mavis Huskey of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Angela Edmondson Schmidt, Christopher Ryan Edmondson, James William Edmondson and Blake Watson Sims.
Pallbearers were Doug Crowder, Ralph Jones, Morley Denbo, Cole Young, Richard T. Sims and Ralph Cain.
