Hartselle finishes 2nd at Muscle Shoals tourney
The Lady Tigers improved their record to 15-4 following the Muscle Shoals Tournament Sept 2. Hartselle fell to Pelham in the tournament final by the score of 16-25, 17-25, 12-25.
In pool play, the Lady Tigers finished with a 2-1 record, defeating Wilson and Florence while losing to Pelham. In the tournament’s playoffs, Hartselle defeated Brooks 25-17, 25-13, 17-25, 25-16 and Muscle Shoals 25-16, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13.
In the tournament, Lauren Drake led the team with 58 kills. Mary Virginia Reeves led the Lady Tigers with 20 blocks and added 57 kills. Drake also led the team with 30 digs and both Chandler Orr and Kayla Orr had a team-high six aces.

Falkville 8, 15
Hartselle defeated Falkville at Danville High School Friday afternoon, knocking off the Lady Blue Devils in straight sets. Mary Virginia Reeves and Dana Lacey each had four kills in the match and Lauren Drake and Chandler Orr followed with three kills each. Reeves had five aces and Drake led with two blocks.

Danville 20, 18
The Lady Tigers defeated Danville on the road Friday, with Lauren Drake leading the way with five kills. Chandler Orr and Cerra Little had four digs each to lead the team and Drake also led with three blocks.

Arab 11, 20
Hartselle defeated Arab Aug. 29 at Decatur High School in straight sets. Lauren Drake led the match with four kills and tied for the team lead with six digs. Emily Roden also had six digs for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 9-2.

Decatur 10, 17
The Lady Tigers had little trouble defeating Decatur on the road Aug. 29. Mary Virginia Reeves had 10 kills in the win and also led the team with three blocks. Kayla Orr had two aces.
Danville sweeps 3 teams at home
The Lady Hawks swept the competition at home Aug. 29. Danville defeated area teams Hanceville and Vinemont as well as non-area foe Elkmont, with all three wins coming in straight sets. The Lady Hawks defeated Hanceville 25-18, 25-14; Vinemont 25-5, 25-9 and Elkmont 25-23, 25-16.
Lauren Simmons led the way for Danville with 38 kills, and tied with Jordan Spinks for the team lead with nine aces. Simmons also tied with Spinks and Alaina Fitzgerald for a team-high five blocks. Fitzgerald led the team with eight digs, followed closely by Kassie Cowart who had seven.
Bethany Evans had 53 assists to lead the team and added four aces of her own. Kalli Fitzgerald had six aces.
