Baby removed from house with meth lab

An incident of domestic violence led to the discovery of a methamphetamine laboratory and the removal of a 5-week old baby from a home in Somerville. Christopher Chad Jennings, 29, and Melissa Ann Jones, 32, of 631 Charest Road in Somerville are charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the first degree, possession of marijuana in the second degree and domestic violence in the third degree. They are also charged with a child abuse violation of the Drug Endangered Children’s Act.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 domestic violence call at their home Sept. 1.
Sheriff’s officials said Jones and Jennings were involved in an altercation where both of them were injured. During the dispute, Jenning’s grandfather had also been assaulted with a hammer.
Deputies arriving at the scene observed a working methamphetamine lab. The couple’s infant girl was also at the home. Agents with the sheriff’s Drug Endangered Children’s Program removed the baby from the scene.
Sheriff’s officials said the couple has multiple past drug arrests.
Bond for the couple was set at $1 million each.
