Funeral for Roberta Gorham, 86, of Hartselle was Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Hartselle with Bros. Jerry Smith and Danny Pitts officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Holly Pond Cemetery. Mrs. Gorham died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at her residence. She was a member of First Christian Church in Hartselle for 53 years. She served in the military from 1943 to 1945 as a member of the Women’s Army Corps. She served in the American Theatre Campaign and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign receiving medals for each campaign. A Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon; two Overseas Service Bars and a WAAC Ribbon. She was both a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader for 10 years. She was a substitute teacher at F.E. Burleson Elementary School for 40 years and was known by all the students as “Miss G.”
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Cobble and Mitzi Pouncey and husband, Don, both of Hartselle; a brother, Jack Harris of Pleasant Grove; a sister, Evelyn Savery of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Zachary Tosti and Allyson Pouncey; and a great-grandchild, Jacob Tosti.
Pallbearers were Morris Wayne Edmundson, Elmo Kerr, Tony McCain, Doug Stephenson, John Patterson, Mac Patterson, Bill King and Sam Gugliotta.
