Funeral for Oswald E. Owens, 83, of Danville was Wednesday, October 4, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. C.G. Reding and Johnny Huey officiating.
A graveside service with Masonic and military rites followed at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Owens died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Lawrence Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1922, in Lawrence County to Albert C. Owens and Mary Ann Wright Owens.
He was retired from Wolverine Tube after 35 years and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, and a lifetime member of Mount Zion Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Wyatt Owens, Chester Owens, Lyle Wayne (Jack) Owens and Pelham Owens; three sisters, Eula Owens McCulloch, Eredell Owens Pittman and Dorothy Owens Hensley; two half-brothers, Norris Owens and Vincent Owens; and two half-sisters, Lula Owens Callahan and Dora Owens Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline Johnson Owens; a son, Vann Owens and wife Joyce of Decatur; a daughter, Vicky Owens Muse and husband Bill of Danville; a sister, Laverne Owens Tapscott of Decatur; five grandchildren, Jody Muse, Bart Muse, Brandon Owens, Candice Owens Taylor and Alaina Muse; and five great-grandchildren, Amanda Muse, Heather Muse, Joshua Muse, Joseph Muse and Hannah Muse.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Jody Muse, Bart Muse, Brandon Owens and Chuck Taylor, and other family members and friends, Clint Cameron, Barry Owens, Bryan Hames and Bud Key.
Fellow Masons were honorary pallbearers.
