Local group seeks Christmas help
By Staff
Local groups are working to help make the holidays brighter for the less fortunate.
Classroom specialists at Hartselle Head Start are collecting monetary donations to help children in its program. Classroom specialists work with local income families whose income may not meet all their financial needs. Sponsorships are sought for children and families.
For more information on this program, call 773-1006.
The Mental Health Association of Morgan County is conducting another “Operation Santa Claus” event. This annual project provides gifts for patients who are spending Christmas in North Alabama Regional Hospital or are clients of a Mental Health Center.
To become involved in Operation Santa, you can call the MHA office at 353-1160 and they will supply you a name. For this program, they ask you to spend $30. Or you can donate $30 to sponsor one person. Make checks out to Mental Health Association and designate it for Operation Santa.
Or, you can buy a general gift or make a donation in any amount. Gifts need to be new, suitable for an adult, unwrapped and delivered to collection site by Dec. 7. Gift suggestions include clothing for men, women or children, pajamas, bathrobes, gloves, sweatsuits, shoes, purses and wallets, belts, ties, caps, toiletries, stationary and stamps, radios, watches, jewelry and items for arts and crafts projects.
There will also be an Operation Santa party Dec. 13 and volunteers are needed to make desserts for this event. You can also volunteer by helping to wrap the gifts on Dec. 11.
