OWO organizers thank sponsors
Editor,
I would like to give thanks to all the supporters of the Osborne, Warren, Oden Recreational Center’s Chili Supper that took place last Thursday night.
Special thanks to Bate’s Septic Service, Hannah’s Lawn &Landscape Service, Foodland of Eva, and Pepsi Bottling Company for their donation. The event would not have been such a great success with out their generous donations.
Thanks to Hartselle City Schools, Dr. Reed for giving us a place to host the event and to Mr. Young for helping make it happen. To all the volunteers that donated their time to make the event possible. The city of Hartselle is a great place to live but it is times like this when you see the community give their support that you realize just how lucky we are to live in Hartselle.
Lisa Burns,
Director OWO Center
E-voting machines a waste
Editor:
Everyone using (attempting to use) e-voting machines should be investigated and prosecuted for waste, fraud and abuse.
There is absolutely no justification for the expense incurred to purchase, let alone troubleshoot and repair, e-voting machines.
Why is everyone in such a rush to have everything “e-something” in the ethernet world? Alabama already has the simplest voter friendly positive vote machines with a paper trail money can buy. No one needs, nor ever needed, touch screen voting.
If a voter isn’t smart enough to use paper ballots with electronic registration, as in Alabama, you certainly can’t trust them to vote intelligently and shouldn’t be voting anyway.

Say thanks to a
veteran
Editor,
All they ask for is just one day,
To be remembered for the price they paid,
Leaving their families and friends behind,
Imagine the things running through their mind.
They unselfishly left the comforts of home,
To travel to the land unknown,
Knowing that they might pay the ultimate price,
For their country they would give their life.
They wrote letters home to reassure their kin,
That they might return home safely once again,
Tomorrow was uncertain while the battle was fought,
For freedom was the thing they sought.
We honor those who served us,
And those who paid the ultimate price,
We proudly show our thankfulness,
As we honor their sacrifice.
