Nov. 16, 1956 —The Morgan County Training School Blue Eagles defeated the Moulton High Gophers by a score of 19-0 in their annual homecoming celebration tonight.
Nov. 16, 1956 —Twenty-nine international students who attend Jacksonville State Teachers College visited Hartselle today as guests of the Rotary Club. The visit was arranged by members J. E. Stone, Jr., and Phil Wasson.
Nov. 17, 1956 —Dewey Channell, 47, the first superintendent of the Hartselle electric department, died suddenly at his home today. Mr. Channell had been active for many years in the local Methodist church.
Nov. 18, 1956 —City police are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed two small frame houses here today despite the combined efforts of National Guardsmen and firemen. The residences were located near the Morgan County Training School.
Nov. 19, 1956 —As yesterday’s conflagration demonstrated, Hartselle firemen are being increasingly hampered in their work on account of sightseers following the truck when it makes a fire run. Police plan to crack down severely on this practice.
Nov. 20, 1956 —Gen. L. C. Pattillo discussed the current Middle East crisis with members of the Hartselle Rotary Club today. Gen. Pattillo said that the crux of the problem is that the Arabs want to destroy the little nation of Israel.
Nov. 20, 1956 —The MCHS Tigers closed out their season at home tonight with a loss to the powerful Cullman Bearcats by a 26-6 score.
This gives the Tigers a 1-6-2 final record. The Hartselle team’s only points came in the final period.
With the ball on the Cullman 8, Roberts set up the score as he went around right end for 2 yards. Wallace followed with the TD as he went over right tackle to go the 6 yards to tally. Vest’s conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Nov. 21, 1956 —Local Crimson Tide fans were keenly disappointed today when Paul (Bear) Bryant removed himself…as a possibility for head football coach at the University of Alabama, instead recommending Jim Tatum of North Carolina…Alabama is seeking a successor to Coach J. B. Whitworth, whose three-year contract expires Dec. 1.
Nov. 22, 1956 —Air Cadet Ralph Pattillo of Graham Air Force Base in Mariana, Fla., is the Thanksgiving guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Pattillo.
