The University of Alabama is one up on Auburn University at Danville-Neel Elementary, at least as far as charity as concerned.
Tide partisans emerged as the winner in a Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society fundraiser with donations totaling $564.52. Tiger fans lost with contributions totaling $372.88.
Alabama and Auburn donation stations were set up in the school’s foyer and students were invited to give to the school of their choice upon their arrival for classes each day of “Game Week.” Donations were tabulated daily and recorded on a total board in the main hallway. The final tally reached $937.40 on Friday morning and the winner was announced at the end of the school day.
She said the fundraiser was the first of three or four that will be conducted for Relay for Life during the school year.
