Funeral for W.B. Stanford, 80, of Hartselle was Monday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Morgan of Gadsden officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Stanford died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was a member of First Church of God in Hartselle and served four years in the U.S. Navy during World Ward II. He was a member of the Amphibious Forces and served as petty officer second class on the USS Grafton APA 109. He earned eight medals and four Bronze Stars and made four major invasions in the Pacific, Philippines, Okinawa, Leyte and Japan. He retired from the Department of the Army at Redstone Arsenal.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dewey Stanford, Jimmy Stanford, and Jackie Stanford.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Stanford of Hartselle; two brothers, Alvin Stanford and Lavaughn Stanford; and a sister, Mary Murphree.
Pallbearers were friends.
