Concerned about canopies?

A public meeting will be held at the City Hall Auditorium on Monday, Jan. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the first phase of the Main Street Streetscape and Canopy Revitalization Project.
Representatives of the city, design firms and Alabama Department of Transportation will be present to present the proposed design, answer questions and gather feedback regarding the project.
Plans call for the replacement of the flat roof on the downtown canopies with a slanted roof along with the replacement of sidewalks and some curbing. The work will be financed with an 80-20 Transportation Enhancement Grant, which was announced in February 2006.
