Edward Duddley ‘Bluegill’ Oaks

Funeral for Edward Duddley “Bluegill” Oaks, 74, of Eva was Sunday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Daniel’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Tim Aris and Albert Dean Estes officiating and Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Oaks died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He retired as a truck driver from Schmitt Oil Co. in Decatur and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hulen Oaks and Dewitt Oaks; and a sister, Evelyn Stallnaker.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Myrtle “Tiny” Harden Oaks of Eva, two sons, Dwight Oaks and Dewayne Oaks and wife Daphne, all of Eva; three daughters, Donna Mackentepe and Debra Hunter and husband Terry, all of Eva, and Dewanda Brinkley and husband Earl of Hartselle; a special friend and caregiver, Edith Kelsoe of Eva; a brother, Jerriel Oaks and wife Carolyn of Decatur; three sisters, Eula Mae McAnalley of Eva, Marie Childers of Decatur and Edith McElroy of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
