Alabama is in dire need of an amendment of a recall vote. All across this state, elected officials are abusing the offices that they serve in, and subjecting the taxpayers to finance their abuses, or their defense of abuses. Whether it’s the state offices, county or municipal offices, it’s not hard for one to see these people and their atrocious behavior. The situation regarding the computers, hard drives, commissioners, sheriff, etc., in the county makes for good coffee shop or water cooler chit-chat. Clearly, the sheriff and the revenue commissioner have elevated themselves above the law, in order to hide something other than sensitive material, as they so weakly claim.
Amanda Scott’s claim of private information of people that pay online for their taxes, being compromised, is absurd. There is a third party that handles the on line and credit card accounts, and it never goes to any of her computers. Greg Bartlett’s claim of protecting homeland security information is almost as bright as a burned out 10 watt light bulb.
Some people want to make Stacy George out to be the villain in this. What many don’t know, or don’t want to know, is that this entire situation was dumped in his lap, and not by choice. As chairman pro tem, he is merely following the trail, and that just so happens to be a trail that Bartlett and Scott, either clearly have something to hide, or once again, showing their behinds in public and abusing their offices.
It has cost a significant amount of money, thus far, regarding the lawyers, and the new locks that Scott had installed, and from their rebellion. Scott must think that she owns that door, the hard drives, the office, and that she is the queen of the courthouse.
Bartlett and Scott’s elected positions are not lifetime positions, Hopefully, people will remember them and their rebellious stances when their positions are up for re-election. We should also remember the county commissioners who didn’t have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and order these people to hand over county-owned computers.

As many of our citizens know, Las Vias Mexican Restaurant is moving to a new location. My friends, family and I eat there frequently.
We are very pleased that instead of moving to another city they opted to remain in Hartselle. The food, service and atmosphere at Las Vias are always superb. Once again, thank you Las Vias for staying with us. We look forward to visiting you are your new location on Nanceford Road.
