Sex offender lists Hartselle as residence

A convicted sex offender has registered his plans to move into Hartselle with the Hartselle Police Department. State law requires sex offenders to register their address with law enforcement officials.
Byron Pruett Swann, 68, registered his address as 218 Springdale Road SW in Hartselle. He was convicted of sexual abuse in the first degree of a child under age 12.
Convicted sex offenders are prohibited from living within 2,000 feet of any school or child care facility, within 1,000 feet of his former victims or, in most cases, homes where a minor lives.
