Design board gives its OK to new pink plans

Hartselle’s downtown business district will have a touch of pink after all.
The Central Business District Design Review Board approved a plan by Polka Dots to paint the historic building at the corner of Railroad Street and Main Street black and white with limited dark pink accents.
Ronnie and Jennifer Woodard, who own the building, had earlier submitted a plan to trim the windows in a lighter pink shade, similar to their current Polka Dots building that houses their daughter, Jesse’s, store.
The new plan will include a dark pink door, a color that’s part of Olympic Paint’s historic Biltmore collection. The rest of the building will be white and black, with dark pink shutters on the bottom windows. The awning will be black and white stripes.
The former Polka Dots location will be repainted khaki and green.
Controversy arose after CBD review members questioned the bright pink plans and complained the previous building’s pink accents were not approved.
