Hartselle woman killed in wreck

A car-truck collision on State Highway 67 at Florette claimed the life of a Hartselle woman Jan. 26.
Barbara Keel, 58, of Hartselle died from injuries she sustained when the car she was driving collided with an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck at 11:30 a.m. four miles south of Somerville.
Bystanders removed her body from her car before it burst into flames, however, she was pronounced dead on the scene by Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard. He said she died from blunt force trauma to her head and chest.
She was wearing her seat belt.
The driver of the truck was identified as Kevin Murdock, 48, of Horton. He was not injured.
The mishap occurred as the victim was driving north and the truck driver was headed south.
Keel was a wife, mother and Christian music songwriter. She recently released a new CD entitled “The Passion of Christ.”
The accident continues under investigation, state troopers said.
