Funeral for Ira Gene Hayes, 78, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Phillip Hines officiating and Bible reading by Daniel Gaines.
Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hayes died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Oct. 18, 1928, to Alonzo and Evia Newton Hayes. He retired as an electrical engineer from Prestolite with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Vera L. Hayes of Hartselle; two sons, Arel E. Hayes and wife Cathy of Nashville, Tenn. and Kenneth W. Hayes and wife, Theresa, of Lawrence County; two daughters, Eva M. Orr and husband, Franklin of Athens and Pam S. Brown and husband Jimmy of Hartselle; a brother, Clyde M. Hayes of Michigan; six grandchildren, Chad, Josh, David, Nicholas, Eric and Deanna; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Hartselle Church of Christ Building Fund.
