Low-interest loans available to students

A new state-sponsored program is offering interest-free student loans to teachers and nurses who agree to stay in Alabama and to members of the Alabama National Guard who have been called to active duty since Sept. 11, 2001.
Gov. Bob Riley said he hopes this program will be helpful in addressing shortages of teachers and nurses in some parts of the state, as well as helping with Guard recruitment and retention.
The loans are available through the Alabama College Loan Program. Loans will be provided to:
