Tests show no problems with revenue computers

An examination of the hard drives of Revenue Commissioner Amanda Scott and her chief clerk show no signs of tampering or misuse.
Alabama Forensic Data Services Inc. released its report last week. Expert Wade Morgan said Scott and Chief Clerk Renee Field’s computers were checked for pornography, inappropriate outgoing e-mail messages or tampering. Morgan said the checks revealed no tampering with the hard drive and no pornography on emails or the computers themselves.

The review was the latest chapter in email saga prompted by inappropriate emails on Commission Chairman John Glasscock’s computer. The images were sent to Glasscock from Human Resource Director Jack Underwood, who was fired as a result of the transmissions. The incident let to Commissioner Stacy George calling for a search of all county computers.
However, Scott, Sheriff Greg Bartlett, retired Probate Judge Bobby Day and Board of Registrar Clerk Adonis Bailey said security reasons prevented them from providing hard drives to investigators. Morgan said Bartlett’s objections have prevented access to the county’s server.
Bartlett said regulations of Homeland Security prevent the search of his records.
Scott later reached an agreement with the Commission to transport her hard drive to be examined, as long as taxpayer information was protected.
Scott said she was pleased but not surprised by the results of the examinations.
