Hartselle Planning Commission approved site plans for two commercial projects.
Redstone Federal Credit Union of Huntsville was given the go-ahead at its regular meeting on Tuesday to construct a branch office on Highway 36 East next to Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home. Another applicant was approved to build a fitness gym and strip office building on Highway 31 North, next to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

A certificate to subdivide the Francis property to accommodate the new business was granted by a separate motion.
The Commission also approved a request by the city to subdivide a 0.40-acre lot from Sparkman Park land on Highway 31 South. In a separate action, the lot was recommended to the city council for rezoning from R-1 to B-1.
Previously, the city council approved the sale of the lot to Ty and Martha Cooper of Hartselle. They plan to use it as the location for a new Guthrie’s chicken fingers franchise.
A layout plat for Garner Road Estates, a seven-lot subdivision, was approved on condition that a 15-foot utility easement is added on the north side of Lot G, HU concurs with the proposed sewer easements and the plat name is revised to include “A Resubdivision of Lots three and four Kelley Estates.”
