Danville, Priceville split in battle of county rivals

Danville girls 55, Priceville girls 43
Danville High's Lady Hawks grabbed an early lead and went on to defeat a scrappy Priceville Lady Bulldogs' team 55-43 in a road game Friday night.
The win lifted the Lady Hawks to 16-11 on the season. They will host the 3A Area 11 tournament starting tonight at 6 p.m. and face Vinemont in a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 13-14 on the season. They are matched against East Lawrence in the 4A Area 15 Tournament at Lawrence County High on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The Lady Hawks led 15-13 after the first period, 31-23 at halftime and 43-28 after three quarters.
Bethany Evans scored 18 points to lead Danville. Lauren Simmons added eight points and had 12 rebounds.
Keila Hamlin scored 11 points for Priceville.
Priceville boys 77, Danville boys 52
Priceville's Bulldogs survived a second period slump and outscored Danville's Hawks 42-25 in the second half to pick up a 77-52 win at Ryan-Penn-Myers Gym Friday night.
The Bulldogs were up 23-9 after one period but Danville fought back and pulled to within seven points, 35-27, at halftime. The Bulldogs held a 54-37 advantage after three periods.
Josh Bedwell paced the Bulldogs with 34 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and five assists. K.C. Green followed with 11 points and six rebounds and Korey Christy had eight points and 10 rebounds.
Zack Orr led Danville with 17 points. Tyler Beck had 11.
Hartselle boys 61, Arab boys 38
Ryne Lindsey led the way for the Tigers with 14 points in a road game where 11 different players scored for Hartselle (17-12), which has won five straight. Jackson Holmes added nine points and Victor Stansberry and Alex Brown each added seven.
Lloyd Dendy led Arab with 11 points.
Arab girls 53, Hartselle girls 44
No. 3 Arab evened the score against No. 2 Hartselle with its win in Arab Friday evening. The Lady Tigers defeated Arab at Hartselle 49-44 on Jan. 6.
Jessi Smith led Hartselle with 19 points and pulled down six rebounds. Lauren Drake added 11 points and nine rebounds and Mary Virginia Reeves added nine points and seven rebounds.
Alli Smalley, an Auburn signee, led Arab with 36 points.
Decatur boys 76, Brewer boys 52
Decatur led 37-20 at halftime as the Red Raiders knocked off Brewer at Earl Morris Gymnasium in Decatur Friday night.
Jeremy Widener and Rusty Boyd each scored 15 points for the Patriots (10-16). Boyd also had a team-high seven rebounds.
Jerodaius Willingham led Decatur with 19 points.
Brewer girls 58, Decatur girls 35
The Lady Patriots broke out to a 25-8 lead at halftime and cruised from there in a win Friday night. Brewer has won nine straight and entered the Class 5A rankings on Feb. 1 for the first time this year – the Lady Patriots are currently ranked No. 9.
Courtney Scott led Brewer (19-7) with 16 points and five rebounds. Morgan Crawley added 15 points and six rebounds.
Decatur was led by Britney McCloud's eight points.

West Morgan boys 65, Brewer boys 61 (OT)
The Patriots bounced back from a 23-8 first-quarter deficit to force overtime, but couldn't quite hang on for a road victory.
Rusty Boyd scored 25 points for Brewer (10-15). Micah Randolph and Brandon Jackson each scored 11 to lead West Morgan.
Brewer girls 83, West Morgan girls 25
All 12 players scored for Brewer, which led 24-9 after the first quarter of play on the road Thursday evening.
Courtney Scott led the way for the Lady Patriots, finishing with 15 points. Emily Dabbs added 14 points for Brewer (18-7).
Mikaila Etheredge led West Morgan with eight points.

Ardmore boys 55, Priceville boys 51
Robert Varner scored 16 points for Priceville, which fell on the road in the Bulldogs' seventh-straight regular season road game (not counting the county tournament).
Matthew Clem led Ardmore with 20 points in the victory.
Ardmore girls 69, Priceville girls 55
Keila Hamlin scored 13 points and Melissa Johnson added 12 as the Lady Bulldogs fell on the road.
Jennifer Mills had 19 points to lead Ardmore.
Grissom boys 58, Brewer boys 52
Rusty Boyd led Brewer with 17 points but it wasn't enough as the Tigers pulled off the victory at Brewer.
Brett Johnson scored 21 to lead Grissom to the win.
Brewer girls 68, Grissom girls 38
Courtney Scott led the Lady Patriots at home with 16 points and seven rebounds. Andrea Crawford added 12 points and Morgan Crawley pitched in with 10. Heather Steelman and Meagan Hormel each had nine points and Emily Dabbs finished with seven assists. Michelle Tillman also had seven rebounds.
Grissom was led by Allison Cousins and Anna Lane, who each scored nine points.
