Funeral for Harold L. Freeman, 80, of Somerville was Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at Center Springs United Methodist Church with the Revs. Charles E. Oden Jr. and Donald Dugger officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Freeman died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. He was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Morgan County to Claude Freeman and Pearlie Meeks Freeman. He was a veteran and was retired from the TVA Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant as a painter. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger H. Freeman; a brother, Virgil Freeman; and a sister, Dollie Burgess.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lizzie Bea Short Freeman of Somerville; a son, Robert Freeman and wife Phyllis of Somerville; three daughters, Mary James and husband Ed of Somerville, Carolyn Grimes and husband Jerry of Hartselle, and Wanda Freeman of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Betty Freeman of Somerville; four brothers, Buddy Freeman, Hammond Freeman and Marvin Freeman, all of Valhermoso Springs and Horace Freeman of Lacey’s Spring; two sisters, Elizabeth Cooper of New Hope and Margie Filyaw of Cullman; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Andy Hetrick, Roger Freeman Jr., Ed James, Jerry Grimes, Steve Dobbs and Iris Winton.
Gary Writesel was a honorary pallbearer.
