Feb. 22, 1957-Parties unknown broke into Groover Tractor Co. last night and stole two flash cameras, several women's garments, a sheep-lined coat, a couple of stamp holders containing about $5 worth of stamps, and an indeterminate number of advertising matches.
Feb. 23, 1957-Art 303, Oil Painting, an FSTC extension class, met for the first time tonight. The local coordinator is Mrs. K. L. Swafford.
Feb. 24, 1957-Hartselle Scouts went on a camping trip to Horace Roberts' lake this weekend. This morning they packed up their gear and came back to town to participate in the 11 o'clock worship service at Hartselle First Baptist.
Feb. 25, 1957-It seems as if most every resident of Hartselle was watching NBC's very popular quiz program, "21," last night. Current champion Charles Van Doren is facing stiff competition from Vivienne Nearing. (This game show was later shown to be fixed.)
Feb. 26, 1957-The Hartselle city council listened sympathetically tonight to a plea from Flint City that it get back the full capacity of its water supply that existed before the construction of the four-lane Highway 31. The town's attorney, Albert Brewer, made a strong case for more water for Flint.
Feb. 26, 1957-Four Lacey's Spring families had telephones for the first time today. By 5 o'clock tomorrow nearly 100 more of these rural Morgan Countians will have phones.
Feb. 27, 1957-Charlie House, who has been homebound due to illness since Christmas, enjoyed his 61st birthday today a lot more than would be expected because he received 218 greeting cards, $182 in cash and checks, and a new TV set. Mr. House obviously has many loving friends and relatives.
Feb. 27, 1957-Three Illinois men lost their lives instantly a few minutes before noon today when their private passenger plane plummeted to the ground in a plowed field north of Cole Springs, spewing the fragments and sections over some 10 acres.
Feb. 28, 1957-Diana Ward, 14-year-old eighth grade student at MCHS, received head injuries this morning when she stumbled and fell as she was turning a corner of the main building.
