March 8, 1957-Mrs. J. A. Templeton of Danville brought a huge egg to the Enquirer today that weighed a neat 41/2 ounces. The egg, laid by one of the Templetons' fine New Hampshires, had two yokes.
March 8, 1957-World Day of Prayer observances were held in Hartselle this afternoon. Mrs. Joe Speake gave the call to worship.
March 8, 1957-The city council meeting tonight lasted three hours. Most of the time was taken up with a report from Jack Stone, chairman of the planning board. The report contained several controversial suggestions related to Hartselle's future development.
March 9, 1957-There was an escape from the Morgan County lockup this morning. A trusty told the jailer that he was headed to the courtroom for his trial, but he failed to make an appearance. (Late today the man called and said he was coming back to jail but hadn't decided when.)
March 9, 1957-Several Morgan County teachers attended a statewide conference in Birmingham dealing with in-service education. Leading the local delegation was Mrs. B. B. Whetstone of MCTS. Principal I. F. Stallworth served as chairman of the faculty evaluating team from his institution.
March 10, 1957-Rev. William L. Carden of Livingston, Tenn. filled the pulpit at the Hartselle First Baptist Church today, coming at the invitation of the pulpit committee.
March 11, 1957- Buddy Roberts, Skipper Drinkard, Ted Lindsey, Joel Ward, Jimmy Mayfield, and Rayburn Freeman, students in Ag. II at MCHS, will paint the school lunchroom with concrete paint this week as part of a class project.
March 12, 1957-Barbara Young, Jimmy Millwood, Bobby Cain, and Bill Stewart, Jr., recent oratorical contest winners and students at Morgan County High School, spoke at today's meeting of the Hartselle Rotary Club.
March 13, 1957-The pickup truck used by Starks McClanahan in his electric service business was burglarized last night while parked behind his home on Barkley Street. Two drill motors, a torch, some range units, etc., were taken by the thief.
March 14, 1957-Marilyn Bentley, Rita Ledbetter, and Eleanor Roberts entertained a large number of the high school set with a party tonight at the Legion home.
A St. Patrick's Day theme was carried out in the decorations by the use of shamrocks, a blarney stone, and green paper streamers.
