William ‘Bill’ Vest Martin

Funeral for William “Bill” Vest Martin, 80, of Gardendale, was Saturday, Mar. 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Morgan’s at Gardendale.
Mr. Martin was a native of Hartselle and a veteran of World War II, having served in both the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He worked at ACIPCO for 45 years, was a member ans deacon of Gardendale First Baptist Church and a Gideon. He also served on the Gardendale Library Board. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Martin Benner and a brother, Issac Alvin Martin Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Pitts Martin; two daughters, Karen Martin Grace and husband Johnie and Leesa Martin Carter and husband Tony; four grandchildren, Brandon Johnson and wife Christie, Chris Johnson and wife Reagan, Kate Carter and Claire Carter; and three great-grandchildren, Gilder Johnson, Evan Melissa Johnson and Garner Johnson.
