Chamber banquet set for April 5

The annual membership banquet of Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on April 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sparkman Civic Center Auditorium. The theme for the coming year is “Gearing Up for Growth.”
Three speakers will be featured on the program but the length of their talks will be limited to about 10 minutes each, according to chamber president Susan Hines. Each will focus attention on different aspects of Hartselle’s growth potential.
The speakers are Mayor Dwight Tankersley; Jeremy Nails, executive director of the Morgan County Economic Development Association; and Col. Mike McKena (retired), chairman of the Morgan County BRAC Committee. Tankersley will speak on “Why Growth is Good for Hartselle,” Nails will talk about plans to create a new industrial park on the I-65 corridor between Priceville and Falkville and McKean will address the impact the BRAC project will have on Hartselle and Morgan County.
Chamber representatives will present three annual awards: The Thompson M. Guyton Humanitarian Award, the E. R. Roberts Business and Civic Award and the John Sparkman Citizenship Award.
Doug Moss, outgoing chairman of the board of directors, will review activities and accomplishments of the chamber in 2006 and incoming chairman Connie Drain, branch manager of Family Security Credit Union in Hartselle, will reach our to the membership for their continued support.
Joining Moss as outgoing directors will be Geremy Segars and Mac Beard. They will be recognized for their service to the organization. Three incoming directors will be introduced, Bill Camp, Jason Preuitt and Matt Nails.
The banquet meal will be catered by the Oden House in Hartselle. Reservations may be made by calling the chamber office. Tickets are $25 each.
