Falkville, Priceville drop home openers

Hartselle wins 2 of 4 at Hoover Tournament

Hatton 9, Falkville 0
The Blue Devils had a tough time with their home area opener Monday, falling to Hatton.
Falkville (5-10, 0-1 in Area 15) trailed 2-0 after three innings before the Hornets blew the game open with five runs in the fourth inning.
The Blue Devils managed three hits off Hatton starter Will Nichols. Picking up those hits were Jonathan Ogles, Kevin Boroughs and Thomas Holt.
East Lawrence 3, Priceville 2
East Lawrence's Tyler Boyd scored on a passed ball in the sixth inning to give East Lawrence a win at Priceville in the area opener for both teams.
Dustin Chambers led the Bulldogs at the plate with two singles and two RBIs.
Priceville (19-4, 0-1 in Area 15) moved on to face East Lawrence again in a road game March 27.
Hartselle finishes 2-2 at Hoover Tournament
The Tigers, after defeating Gadsden City 8-4 on March 19, continued in the Hoover Buccaneer Classic with a win over Prattville before losing two straight to Oak Mountain and Sinclair (Ontario). The loss to Sinclair eliminated Hartselle (14-9) from the tournament.
Sinclair (Ontario) 4, Hartselle 2 (8 innings)
The Tigers staged a two-run rally in the seventh inning but Sinclair responded with two runs of its own in the top of the eighth to eliminate Hartselle from the Buccaneer Classic March 21.
Jake Bradford finished 1-for-3 with a run; Josh Slaten was 1-for-2 with a run and Tony Weaver finished 1-for-3.
Oak Mountain 5, Hartselle 2
The Tigers fell down 5-0 early and were unable to come back in a late game March 20 at the Buccaneer Classic.
Will Rankin took the loss for Hartselle, allowing five runs (just one was earned) and striking out five.
Quinn Dunlap finished 1-for-3 with a run and a double; Luke Bole was 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double and Tony Weaver was 1-for-2 with a run. Ryder Brasher, Jake Bradford and Josh Aycox each had a single.
Hartselle 6, Prattville 5
Hartselle trailed 4-0 early before responding with two runs in the third inning and three in the fifth to take the lead. J.C. Bates had to deal with a jam in the seventh inning, but struck out a batter with the bases loaded to preserve the victory for Hartselle.
Justin Hargett started the game and earned the win, allowing four runs (two earned) and striking out six. Ryder Brasher pitched two innings in relief, allowing one earned run and three hits.
Luke Bole was the offensive leader for the Tigers, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run, a double and a home run. Tony Weaver finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
