John ‘Johnny’ Jefferson Patton Jr.

A graveside service for John “Johnny” Jefferson Patton Jr., 56, formerly of Montgomery, was Monday, April 9, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. Cary Speaker officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel directing.
Mr. Patton died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Summerford Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for 23 years. There he received much loving care and kindness from the administrators and staff. He was born Oct. 29, 1950, in Montgomery to John J. and Bernice Patton. He was stricken early in life with cerebral palsy but despite his physical shortcomings he was a joy to his family, especially his loving sisters, Ann, Genie and Robin. The family expresses deep appreciation to his sister, Robin, for her many years of devotion as his guardian. He was buried beside his loving parents, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sisters, Ann Dudelston and husband Robert and Eugenia “Genie” Folks and husband Allen, all of Birmingham and Roberta “Robin” Fanning and husband Arkie of Hartselle; five nephews, Jason Fanning and Lee Fanning, both of Tuscaloosa, Jefferson Dudelston of Winston-Salem, N.C. and John Folts and Howard “Tripp” Folks, both of Birmingham; a niece, Deborah “Dixie” Gross and husband Kevin of Sachse, Tex.; grandniece, Sarah Ann Gross of Sachse, Tex.; and grandnephews, Joshua Gross and Jacob Gross, both of Sachse, Tex.. Pallbearers were nephews.
