Arrests made in check roundup

Morgan County’s Worthless Check Restitution and Recovery Units arrested 38 people in last week’s bad check roundup.
According to District Attorney Bob Burrell, 20 law enforcement officers from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the Decatur Police Department, the Hartselle Police Department and the Falkville Police Department participated in the roundup.
Two-hundred fifty-two warrants were executed, representing $24,031 for local merchants and courts.
Burrell said the arrest numbers for this operation exceed past roundups in the country. Burrell said he attributes the success to the dedication and professionalism of the officers who volunteer to take part in the event.
