Happy whatever day

Last Friday, April 13, I was traveling with my oldest daughter to Kentucky for a visit. We stopped to fill the car with gas and I happened to overhear a lady say something about “Blame Someone Else Day.” Huh? As usual curiosity got the better of me and I had to look it up.
She was right. The first Friday the 13th of the year is “Blame Someone Else Day.” So anything that went wrong that day you can blame on someone — anyone— else. The problem I see with this is it can go in reverse and someone can be heaping blame upon you, too!
In looking this up, I also found several other wacky holidays. Some are just plan stupid. For example National Pet Owners Independence Day. It suggests switching roles with your pets. That makes absolutely no sense.
However, April 22 is National Jelly Bean Day. I could really indulge in that one. I can also appreciate World Penguin Day. I collect penguin stuff and love to learn new things about them. I doubt the rest of the world would be quite as interested.
I know several people would enjoy National Prime Rib Day on April 27. I still think I like the Jelly Bean Day better. Although, I could live with National Chocolate Chip Day too. I do enjoy poking a little fun at some of the “celebrations.” After all May 2 is “Baby Day.” Someone needs to share with whoever came up with this one that if you have a baby everyday is “Baby Day.” May 3 is “Lumpy Rug Day.” The idea behind this one is to appreciate good rugs and get rid of the bad ones. I wonder if rug manufacturers had anything to do with this “celebration.”
There were many “celebration” days that made me just kind of shake my head. Let me share a few with you, Frog Jumping Day, Dance like a Chicken Day, and the ever popular National Escargot Day (yeah, basically National Let’s Eat Snails Day — um no!!). I’ll just stick with my Jelly Bean Day.
I looked through several months and almost everyday is taken however, May 29 is still free. I wonder if there is a “National Get Someone Else to do Your Laundry Day?” I might have to look into that one!
Just in case your bored this weekend you can celebrate National Garlic Day on Thursday, April 19. (I suggest you have some breath mints on hand.) On Friday, April 20, you’ve got Look Alike Day to keep you busy. National Kindergarten Day is April 2. Of course, on April 22 is Jelly Bean Day and Girl Scout Leader Day. (Bless the Girl Scout leaders!)
