A graveside service for Richard Brown, 47, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Hartselle, was Wednesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m. in Itawamba Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Miss. with Riemann Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Brown died Friday, April 13, 2007, in Gulfport. He was the children’s minister at Bayou View Baptist Church in Gulfport. A 1979 graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, he was ordained in March, 2004, at Montpelier Baptist Church and graduated from New Orleans Theological Seminary in May, 2004.
He was an extremely dedicated family man who loved fishing, as well as an occasional game of chess. He loved serving children through the Lord all across the Gulf Coast and through his many missions to Ireland. He also had a vital part in organizing hurricane relief across the Gulf Coast through his church. He had a passion for helping people and serving the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Brown and his grandmother, Effie Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Marcy Brown of Gulfport; his mother, Johnnie Mae Brown of Fulton; a son, Richard “Chip” Spencer Brown of Gulfport; two daughters, Amanda Shae Brown and Suzanna Marie Brown, both of Gulfport; a sister, Belinda Brown Dill and husband Danny of Fulton; two nieces, Amber and Anna Dill of Fulton; a nephew, Noah Dill of Fulton; a special friend, Rev. Robert “Bobby” Humphries of Fulton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
