Tigers sweep pair of doubleheaders

The Tigers earned a pair of one-run victories in a home doubleheader against Austin April 12.
In Game 1, Quinn Dunlap hit a solo home run and a single to help pace Hartselle (24-15) offensively. Jake Bradford added a double, and Luke Bole and Josh Aycox each singled.
J.C. Bates picked up the win, working six innings and striking out seven. Justin Hargett pitched the seventh to pick up the save.
In the second game, Hartselle trailed the Black Bears 2-0 heading into the fifth inning when the Tigers started their comeback. Bole hit an RBI single and Bradford added an RBI double of his own.
Caleb Murphy had a single for Hartselle's only other hit. Chad Girodo picked up the win, striking out seven in six innings of work. Ryder Brasher and Hargett worked in relief.

Brewer 1, 0
The Tigers clinched second place in Area 15 with a doubleheader sweep of Brewer on the road April 10.
In Game 1, Hartselle opened the game with a bang, scoring nine runs in the first inning. Quinn Dunlap, Luke Bole and Tony Weaver were each 2-for-2 and Will Chappell was 2-for-3. Dunlap, Bole and Tyler Young each scored two runs and Jordan Garrison, Bole and Chappell each had two RBIs.
J.C. Bates pitched the first two innings and Ethan Widener closed the game out over the last three innings.
In Game 2, Chad Girodo and Bole each worked two innings and Ryder Brasher pitched the fifth to combine for the shutout.
Dunlap finished 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBIs and three runs. Brasher scored four runs and Chappell scored two runs. Chappell, Girodo and Weaver each picked up two RBIs.
