Members of Hartselle’s 152nd Military Police Company, Alabama Army National Guard, are coming home after spending nearly a year providing security for Fort McClellan near Anniston and six months prior to that being cross-trained as MPs in Missouri.
The unit is scheduled to be released from its current assignment April 27 and its personnel, which totals about 60, are expected to arrive home by private transportation later the same day. Orders for de-mobilization will follow shortly, according to Specialist Steve Stowers, acting as a rear detachment NCO.
A welcome home ceremony is planned for April 30 at 3 p.m. at the Ferrell Vest Armory. Personnel will be in uniform and will be presented in formation. Tammy Lee, a local vocalist, will provide entertainment.
Comments will be made by company and battalion officers. A reception will follow and finger foods will be served.
Stowers said some company personnel are attached to other units, including those serving in Iraq and will not be able to attend the homecoming.
