Funeral for Virgie Defoe Powell, 90, of Hartselle was Tuesday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop John McPeek officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 10, 1916, in Morgan County to Charlie Defoe and Ida Kyle Defoe.
She was a member of Pattillo Street Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Powell, and son-in-law, Buel Hanners.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Hanners of Hartselle, Dessie Brown and husband Sonny of Cullman and Bess Dykes and husband Cliff of Decatur; four grandchildren, Nancy Hanners Weaver, Brenda Hanners Marsch, Patty Hutchens and J.A. Phillips; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Matthew Jones, Jeffrey Jones, Jeremy Jones, James Weaver, Phil Hutchens and Walter Marsch.
