Wreck claims life of Somerville woman

A car-truck collision on Highway 36, three miles east of Hartselle, claimed the life of a young woman on Friday at approximately 6:28 p.m.
State Troopers identified the victim as Jessica Collier Brown, 24, of Quinton. The driver of a 2000 Buick, she was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard. He said she died from blunt force trauma.
Her husband, Wayne Brown, 29, also of Quinton, was a passenger in the car. He was injured and was transported to Huntsville Hospital by a Medflight helicopter.
A tractor-trailer truck was also involved. It was driven by Hollis Morgan, 52, of Muscle Shoals. He was not injured.
The accident occurred as the Browns, both of whom were wearing seat belts, were crossing Highway 36 from Mt. Tabor Road and Morgan was traveling east on Highway 36. The collision caused a fuel leak and State Highway Department workers were called on to assist in the cleanup. Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was reduced to one lane for nearly four hours.
State Troopers are continuing their investigation of the accident.
