Funeral for Franklin Dewayne Thompson, 72, of Priceville was Wednesday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines and James Carol Bryant officiating.
Burial was in Loosier Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Mr. Thompson died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. He was born March 30, 1935, in Lawrence County to Horace Irvin Thompson and Mary Elvie Smith Thompson. He was a 1955 graduate of Hatton High School and was retired from the maintenance department at the former Monsanto Company in Decatur. He coached baseball in the Priceville Youth Leagues from 1980 to 1986. He attended Hartselle Church of Christ and had previously served as an elder in the Priceville Church of Christ for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nina J. Thompson of Priceville; two sons, Keith Thompson of Priceville and Kevin Thompson of Hartselle; a daughter, Melonie Thompson of Danville; two brothers, Horace I. Thompson Jr. of Tuscumbia and George Dewight Thompson of Priceville; a sister, Mary Christine Terry of Courtland; seven grandchildren, Britt Thompson, Brock Thompson, Brayden Thompson, Betsy Grace Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Trey Thompson and Leia Thompson.
Pallbearers were U.D. Springer, Britt Thompson, Brock Thompson, Brayden Thompson, George Thompson Jr., Jackie Smith and Erni Ballew.
Members of the 1955 Class of Hatton High School were honorary pallbearers.
