Hartselle man drowns in Gulf

A Hartselle man drowned in the Gulf of Mexico May 27, while on vacation in Gulf Shores for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. LeShaamon Shorrell Garth, 31, died at approximately 12:48 p.m., according to a press release issued by Gulf Shores Police Chief Arthur Bourne. Beach lifeguards recovered his body a short distance from the shoreline.
Garth was a native of Hartselle who attended Hartselle High School. He was a former production employee at Copeland Corporation. Sharpley Funeral Home in Decatur is handling funeral arrangements.
