Miss USA takes a spill on stage

Never let it be said I married a dumb man.
We were flipping through the channels Sunday night when we came across the Miss Universe pageant. There wasn’t anything else on, so I started watching the pageant. It just so happened it was the start of the bathing suit competition.
Smart man. When you’re wife is seven months pregnant, it’s a smart thing not to acknowledge there are skinny women in the world.
Each woman walked out to the edge of the stage and flaunted her, well, assets. We had a comment for most.
None of these things were true but it made me feel better. Greg, again behaving wisely, agreed with all my comments.
The show included all sorts of dancing routines, lots of prancing around and various other typical beauty pageant moments, including an evening gown competition. Since this was Miss Universe, there were some unique gowns, including one I believe was glued on to Miss Singapore or whoever she was.
Just at that moment, the very pretty Miss USA walked onto the stage in her tight black dress. Just as she turned the corner, SPLAT!, she hit the floor.
Smiling bravely, she gathered herself up and walked down the runway. She looked as if she might cry but, as a good beauty pageant contestant must do, she managed to smile. It must not have been too big of a mistake, as the judges scored her highly and she made it into the top five, something that greatly upset the hometown Mexican crowd who felt their contestant should have at least beat out the girl who fell on her rear end on stage.
After being named to the top five, Miss USA answered her judge’s question, something along the lines of ‘if you could change anything you’ve done what would it be?”
Here it comes, I thought. Anyone with any sense of humor at all would have said “I would go back 10 minutes and change me tripping on stage in front of the entire universe.” That would have been a great answer.
Instead, she said something about South Africa, peace and Oprah Winfrey. This just goes to show you that Miss USA is not as smart as my husband, who always seems to know the right words to say.
