Funeral for David S. Sims, 68, of Hartselle was Friday, June 1, at 4 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines and Bobby Murphy officiating.
Burial was in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mr. Sims died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born December 18, 1938, in Morgan County to Jesse Pynion Sims and Christine McCullough Sims. He was the retired owner of WS Electrical and Air Conditioning Inc, in Decatur, an Eagle Scout and a 1957 graduate of Decatur High School. He attended Jackson State and Calhoun Community College. He started his air conditioning career at Worthington Corp. in Decatur and later served as chief engineer for Command Air in Waco, Tex. He then founded WS Electrical and Air Conditioning. He was known as “Pop Pop” by his grandchildren and those who frequented his beloved deer camp.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mitchell Sims of Hartselle; a son, David Mitchell Sims of Huntsville; two daughters, Amy Sims Black and husband Jeffrey of Hartselle and Amanda Sims Cadrecha and husband Matt of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Gail S. Peck and husband Robert and Nancy Mayfield and husband Benford, all of Hartselle; and four grandchildren, Joseph, Hannah and Catherine Cadrecha of Tampa, Fla. and Mimi Black of Smyrna, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Jim Peck, Arthur Peck, Bret Mayfield, Bart Mayfield, Michael McCullough and Neal Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Murphy, Arthur Warren Sanderson, Mark Mizell, Greg Hill, Windell England, James Whitmire, Preston Hall and Jeff Ellis.
