HU, city meeting about sewer project
By Staff
Modifications to provide a bore under the interstate to bring sewer services to city-owned property means the project should come in under budget.
Mayor Dwight Tankersley said the council will meet with Hartselle Utilities June 29 at 7 p.m. to discuss the project.
"It's looking like we're going to come in under budget," Tankersley said.
Initial bids for the sewer project were some $1 million more than budgeted. The project would provide sewer services to some 18 acres of city-owned property near the intersection of I65 and Highway 36.
The city had set aside some $550,000 for the sewer project. It paid some $2 million for the property, hoping the land will eventually attract retail development.
