Debbie Heard is new Red Cross director

Debbie Heard is leaving her job as administrator at First United Methodist Church in Decatur to become the new director of the Morgan-Lawrence County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
She follows in the footsteps of Susan Codding who is retiring after filling the position for 19 years. She and her husband, Charles, are relocating to Dadeville, where they have a home on Lake Martin.
Heard, a native of Florence, said she would be challenged in her new job to educate the public on the many ways the Red Cross serves people and to pull in new leaders to guide the organization in the future.
