Hartselle American 7/8 finishes 2nd at sub-district

Decatur National finished the Sub-District B Tournament at Point Mallard undefeated and will be the top seed at the district tournament, which begins Friday in Athens. Hartselle American (2-1) will be the No. 2 seed.
Leading the way for Hartselle American in Monday's game were Taylor Easterling and Skylar Holland, who each had a double and two singles. Garrett Wade and Ben Kimbrough had a single and a double.
Hartselle American 23, Athens American 1
Hartselle American had little trouble in its game Saturday, sending 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning on the way to a mercy-rule victory.
Christian Edwards hit a home run in the bottom of the second inning to put Hartselle American up by 11. The team scored seven runs in the second inning and five in the third.
Hartselle American 17, Morgan American West 2
Friday night, Hartselle American opened tournament play at Point Mallard with an easy victory.
Hartselle American opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when an RBI double by Taylor Easterling scored Ben Kimbrough, who reached on a single. Zach Hobbs' RBI groundout scored Easterling with two outs.
Morgan American West pulled to within one in the bottom of the inning after Ryan Meeks' RBI double plated Sean Dalton, who reached on a single. Jeffery Hunter and Khi Mause also singled in the inning.
The third inning brought more scoring for Hartselle American. Garrett Wade singled and scored one batter later on a double from Andrew Nuss. Christian Edwards hit a two-run home run to increase Hartselle American's lead to 5-1.
Colton Quattlebaum followed with a single and Skylar Holland doubled to put two runners in scoring position. Both runners scored on consecutive RBI groundouts from Kimbrough and Easterling.
Hartselle American batted around in the fourth inning, increasing their lead past the 10-run mercy limit. Morgan American West scored its final run in the bottom of the inning off an RBI single by Mause.
