Hartselle 9/10 National off to fast start at sub-district

Hartselle National 5, Morgan American West 2
Hartselle National picked up its second win of the 9/10-year-old Sub-district B Tournament at Priceville's North Park Saturday. Benny Brown and Curtis Russell both scored two runs and Lon Starr scored once.
Brown and Russell both doubled twice and Starr hit a triple. Lane Anders and Josh McCarley both hit a double and Dustin Stephenson and Jaxon Peebles each singled.
Hartselle National 12, Decatur American 9
Hartselle National got off to a fast start before dealing with a two-hour rain delay Friday. Benny Brown had a strong night at the plate with a double, triple, home run and three runs scored.
Dustin Stephenson doubled, tripled and scored two runs and D.J. Bunn tripled twice and scored a run. Jaxon Peebles tripled and scored a run and Josh McCarley and Tyler Bullard both doubled and scored a run. Chandler Padgett and Curtis Russell each scored a run.
Hartselle 9/10 American finishes sub-district with 1-2 record
Athens National 13, Hartselle American 0
Athens National no-hit Hartselle American in a game at Point Mallard Monday afternoon, allowing Athens National to finish the Sub-district A 9/10-year-old tournament undefeated.
Hartselle American's best opportunity to score came in the bottom of the third inning when Trent Sivley and Andrew Segars each walked to start the inning. But Athens American's pitcher worked around the jam and set down Hartselle American in order in the bottom of the fourth to end the game on the mercy rule.
Decatur National 9, Hartselle American 6
Hartselle American came up short in a game Saturday evening at Point Mallard. Taylor Steele singled, doubled and scored a run and Tyler Cook had three singles and scored a run.
Connor Pheny singled and scored a run; Logan Hansard singled and scored a run and Dakota Parker doubled and scored a run. Deajay Klett, Ghaith Vest and Andrew Segars each singled and Trent Sivley hit a double.
Hartselle American 17, Morgan National East 2
Hartselle American opened its tournament Friday with a rout of Morgan National East. Every member of the team scored at least one run for Hartselle American in the victory.
Deajay Klett, Tyler Cook, Ghaith Vest, Andrew Segars and Collins Hanners each scored twice while scoring once were Connor Pheny, Taylor Steele, Logan Hansard, Dakota Parker, Trent Sivley, Mason Pettey and Brandon Woodard.
Scoring for Morgan National East were John Wesley Turney and Hunter Swafford.
