Hartselle 13's take district championship

Through two games as of Monday evening, the Hartselle 13-year-old All-Stars were 2-0 and advanced to the championship round. They played Hamilton Tuesday needing one win to advance to the state tournament and picked up that win with an 8-3 victory.
The state tournament begins July 20 in Athens.
Hartselle 9, Decatur National 2
Colby Nelson's three-run double sparked a four-run fourth inning as the Hartselle 13-year-old Dixie Youth All-Stars won at Cedar Ridge Saturday.
Hartselle led 2-1 heading into the fourth inning when Ryan Brown and Jake Hartsell managed consecutive two-out walks. Jacob Garrison followed with an RBI single to score Brown and load the bases for Nelson, who launched a 2-1 pitch to left-center to clear the bases.
Hartselle added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Garrison reached on an error with one out and Kameron Wallace followed with a double. Nelson singled to score Garrison and Gavin Marsh followed with a double to plate Wallace and Nelson.
Reese Ashwander had a two-run single in the second inning, scoring Marsh and Todd Gibson. Garrison started the game, working two innings, before giving way to Wallace for the final five.
Hartselle 10, Hamilton 0
Hartselle opened with a six-inning win July 6. Jacob Garrison and Kameron Wallace combined to pitch the shutout.
