Hartselle 14's move on to district championship series

The Hartselle 14-year-old All-Stars advanced to the championship game series with an 8-2 win over Phil Campbell at the Dixie Youth district tournament at Cedar Ridge Monday evening. The win puts Hartselle into the championship series against Decatur National, who Hartselle would have to defeat twice to advance to the state tournament.
Seth Wiley picked up the win on the mound for Hartselle, working all six innings and allowing six hits while striking out five.
Matt Johnston and Hayden Dye each tripled for Hartselle, while Will Lang singled twice. Jake Kimbrell and Wiley each had a single.
Decatur National 17, Hartselle 7
Decatur National gave Hartselle its first loss Saturday evening in a game that included a grand slam home run by Decatur National's Josh Freeman.
Jackson Reeves led Hartselle with a double and two singles and Johnston finished with two singles.
Hartselle 11, Phil Campbell 1
Hartselle opened its tournament with a win Friday afternoon, having little trouble with the same Phil Campbell team it needed nine innings to defeat in sub-district play.
Hartselle broke away in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring five runs on three hits and two Phil Campbell errors. All the runs scored with two outs in the inning. Dye had an RBI single and Chance Partlow added a two-run single.
Lang also had an RBI single in the third inning, scoring Johnston.
