Danville FFA chapter earns national honors

Four Danville students earn individual awards
Josh Melson of the Danville FFA Chapter recently placed first in the State FFA Equine Science Proficiency Award at Auburn University. He received a check, banner and plaque for his accomplishments. He will compete in the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. this October to represent Alabama. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Melson of Danville.
Josh Melson of the Danville FFA Chapter received the Mindy Stringer FFA Memorial Scholarship in the State FFA Convention in Auburn. The scholarship is $1,000 and is given each year to one of the top FFA members in the state. The scholarship is given in memory of Mindy Stringer, who was a state FFA officer. Presenting the scholarship and plaque is Mindy's sister.
Jose Gardner of Danville FFA Chapter recently placed third in the state FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest at Auburn University. He received a check and a banner for his accomplishments. Gardner was also elected North District FFA Secretary. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Gardner.
David Osborn of the Danville FFA Chapter recently placed third in the State FFA Agricultural Sales and Service Proficiency Contest at Auburn University. He received a check and a banner for his accomplishments. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Osborn of Danville.
Jacob Way of the Danville FFA Chapter placed first in the State FFA Wildlife Protection and Management Proficiency Contest at Auburn University. He received a check, a banner and a plaque for his accomplishments. He will compete in the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. this October to represent Alabama. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Way of Danville.
