Cattle farmers get CRP relief
By Staff
U.S. Representative Bud Cramer announced Friday the U.S. Department of Agriculture will expand haying and grazing under the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) for Morgan and other Alabama counties affected by D-3 and D-4 level drought for at least four months.
The CRP is a voluntary program that offers annual rental payments and cost-share assistance to farmers. The expansion of the program allows participants to cut hay or graze livestock on CRP acreage, providing they were negatively affected by the drought.
"North Alabama's farmers desperately need this support to protect their livestock from further loss," said Cramer.
