Funeral for Charles Horace Sparkman, 72, of Hartselle was Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Nix and Mark Posey officiating.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Sparkman died Friday, July 27, 2007, at his residence. He was born March 21, 1935, in Morgan County to Coy Clifton Sparkman and Leona Vandiver Sparkman. He was a member of the Church of Christ who loved to farm and spend time with his grandchildren. He served as a Morgan County Commissioner for District 2 from 1979 until 1999. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hollis Sparkman. He is survived by his wife, Norma Faye McFarlen Sparkman of Hartselle; three sons, Larry R. Sparkman and wife Vonnie, Maurice "Reecie" Sparkman and wife Renee and Stanley D. Sparkman and wife Cherie, all of Hartselle; a brother, David L. Sparkman of Hartselle; a sister, Linda Anders of Decatur; eight grandchildren, Dustin Sparkman, Bo Sparkman, Derek Sparkman and wife Whitney, Marinda Speakman and husband Eric, Justin McMurrain, Michelle Landry and husband Jace, Pennie Sparkman and Slade Sparkman and wife Amanda; and three great grandchildren, Kiley Speakman, Matthew Speakman and Katy Grace Sparkman. He is also survived by Olle Eriksson, an exchange student from Sweden who lived with the Sparkman family in 1993.
Pallbearers were Dustin Sparkman, Bo Sparkman, Derek Sparkman, Slade Sparkman, Justin McMurrain, Louis Depreast, Eric Speakman and Jace Landry.
