Funeral for Mary Jo Hooper Self, 92, of Hartselle was Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gene Lankford and Danny Pitts officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Self died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at her residence. She was born July 10, 1915, in Gadsden to James Madison Hooper and Melissa Caroline Boatwright Hooper. She was a retired civil service worker and a seamstress, a member of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, Ladies Auxiliary and an artist. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Finis J. Self and a son, Rick Friend.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Samuel Self of New Mexico; two daughters, Linda Raper and Jean Koch Ogle, both of Hartselle; a brother, J. B. Hooper of Crane Hill; six grandchildren, Melissa Lewis of Decatur, Ralph Friend and Sandi Koch Coleman, both of Huntsville and Jamie Mason Raper, Jonathan Raper and Craig Dockery, all of Hartselle; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harry Ashworth, Scott Ashworth, Bill James, Greg Moore, John Gillies and Van Morrow.
